The Silk Road grouped together a set of caravan routes and trade routes that connected East Asia with the Middle East and the Mediterranean basin.
The term also indicates the dense trade cultural related to trade , of which silk was the main product.

Of all the trade routes, the Silk Road , is the oldest and most famous: its name evokes images of scents of exotic spices and desert caravans full of precious goods.
Together with gems, spices and ceramics from Asia and Europe, a continuous flow of explorers, ambassadors and artists brought their culture and art with them: in fact, the foundations were laid for a lasting and prolific encounter between East and West.
